10/10 EVERYTHING! Trek Slovenia 2024 was a wellness trek to raise money for Grief Encounter. This wasn’t like your usual fitness endurance challenge, rather a well-being reset and it was everything we all needed. The fresh air, grounding nature and good people were uplifting for the soul. Grief isn’t linear and looks different for everyone, but having specialist bereavement support, in a safe environment to be open, is vital for healing after the death of someone close. This experience has given me exactly that and a huge amount of appreciation and gratitude for life, which is difficult to navigate through bereavement. This was a journey of hope. Thank you to everybody who donated! Your money will enable grief encounter to work closely with bereaved kids, young people and their families to offer a way through the fear, anxiety and isolation often caused by grief. By doing this trek we raised £18,000!! Woahhhhhh! THANK YOU!! This will change lives. What absolutely stunning first day! My heart is overflowing with love and my mind is as clear as the water. I’m so grateful to be doing this with such an incredible group of people who are inspiring beyond belief. So many deep and personal conversations which were hard to have, but it’s really proven the importance of connection through sharing experiences, especially when it comes to grief. ’ll be taking tomorrow to reflect and remember. The pain of losing my little sister Harriet in 2017 is coupled with the fact that her birthday falls on Christmas day. We would always do Christmas in the morning and Harriet’s birthday in the evening. It was her day and always will be. So yeah, Christmas carries a bittersweet weight for me but I’ve always found solace and healing through songwriting. To process these emotions and connect with Harriet, I wrote this song and wanted to share it with you. There are expectations to be happy this time of year, which can be difficult for any of you who can’t to be with your loved ones. So if you are facing similar struggles, this is my gift to you. Amidst the baileys and crackers, I hope this resonates as a reminder that there are many people grappling with grief.
